How can I suggest foods with equivalent quantities?

Find out how you can use automatic equivalents in your meal plan.

Updated over a week ago

This feature is available in the "Meal Plan" tab of the appointment flow, and in the "Templates" tab, on the left-hand side menu.

1) Add foods with equivalent quantities to the meal plan

  • Access the Meal Plans tab.

  • Click on "Add new food" and type the product you want to add.

  • Click on the + "Add new food equivalent", which is located below the main food.

  • Select the type of equivalence by choosing from Energy, Fat, Carbohydrate, or Protein.

  • Click on the green "+" button to add the substitute food:

The first food equivalence that is selected by default is always Energy. To choose another equivalence, click on the macronutrient you are interested in so that it appears highlighted in blue:

The first food you chose, which appears in bold, is always the main food, while the others you add in the equivalent foods section are its possible food equivalents.

Once you choose the macronutrient equivalent you want to select, Nutrium will automatically tell you how many grams you can add of each suggested food to match that equivalent. It will also tell you if the amount of other macronutrients surpasses or does not the amount of the original food.

For example, if you add 1 cup of milk as your main food and want to add another protein equivalent such as cheese, Nutrium will match the amount of cheese needed to provide the same quantity of protein as 1 cup of milk, but it will also let you know how calories, carbs, and fats compare as well:

Note that if you want the exact amount of macronutrients/energy, you can click on the button to get the amount in grams of the food you have added as an equivalent:

2) Change all the equivalents you entered at once

To change all the equivalents you just entered at once:

  • Click on the main food.

  • Choose "Recalculate equivalents".

  • Select the desired equivalence type again to make all the necessary new changes.

  • Click Save or Save and Close once you're done:
