How do I start a video call from the mobile app?
On the day of your appointment, a video call card will appear in the Next appointment section of your homescreen. This card shows your nutrition professional's photo, the date and time of the appointment and a button to confirm the appointment.
After confirming the appointment, at the bottom of the card, you'll see a Start video call button.
Tap Start video call to open the pre-call screen.
What do I see before the call?
After tapping Start video call, you'll be taken to the pre-call screen. At the top, you'll see the name of your nutrition professional and when the appointment starts — for example, "Starts in 2 minutes" or "Starts Today at 1pm".
At the bottom of the screen, you'll find the Join the video call button. This button is only active 10 minutes before the scheduled appointment time. If you access the screen earlier, the button will be disabled and you'll see a message: "Available 10 minutes before the appointment time", along with the scheduled date and time so you know when to come back.
Once the 10-minute window starts, the button becomes active and you can tap Join the video call to enter the call.
How do I join from a web browser?
Through the app, on the pre-call screen, you'll see a "Copy link to join in browser" option at the bottom. Tap it to copy the link, then open it in a web browser on any device.
If you do not have app access, you can ask your professional for the link or check if you have a calendar event with the link associated. Once you have the link, you can access the appointment through your browser.
You can also receive this link from your nutrition professional. Once you open the link:
Sign in to your Nutrium account.
You'll see the same pre-call screen with the appointment details and tips.
When the Join the video call button becomes active (10 minutes before the scheduled time), click it to enter the call.
The same rules apply as in the app: the button is only active within the 10-minute window before the appointment.
What happens while I wait for my nutrition professional?
After tapping Join the video call, if your nutrition professional hasn't connected yet, you'll see a message: "Your nutrition professional will join shortly." The tips will continue to rotate on screen while you wait.
You don't need to do anything — once your nutrition professional connects, the video call starts automatically.
If your nutrition professional hasn't joined after 15 minutes, the video call will be closed and the appointment will be automatically ended. To return to the call, you just need to click the link again.
What can I do during the call?
Once both you and your nutrition professional are connected, the video call begins. You'll see your nutrition professional's video in the main area of the screen, and your own video in a smaller preview.
At the bottom of the screen, you'll find the call controls:
Camera — turn your camera on or off. When the camera is off, your nutrition professional will see a placeholder image instead of your video.
Share — share your screen with your nutrition professional (more details below).
Chat — open the in-call chat to exchange text messages (more details below).
Leave — leave the video call. A confirmation dialog will appear to make sure you don't accidentally end the call.
You can also rotate your phone to landscape mode for a wider view of the call. The controls remain accessible in landscape orientation.
How does screen sharing work during the video calls?
You can share your screen with your nutrition professional during the call. This is useful if you need to show something from your phone, like a photo, a document, or a food label.
Tap Share in the control bar.
A permission dialog will appear. Tap Share to confirm, or Cancel to go back.
While sharing, you'll see a "You are sharing your screen" indicator and a Stop sharing button, so you always know when your screen is being broadcast. A recording indicator will also appear at the top of your screen (this is a system indicator — no recording is actually being made, it simply means your screen content is being shared).
Tap Stop sharing to end the screen share and return to the normal video call view.
Your nutrition professional can also share their screen with you.
If both you and your nutrition professional are sharing screens at the same time, you'll each see the other person's shared screen as the primary view.
How does the in-call chat work?
The in-call chat allows you to exchange text messages with your nutrition professional during the appointment.
Tap Chat in the control bar to open the chat panel.
Type your message and send it. The message will appear immediately for your nutrition professional.
If the chat panel is closed and your nutrition professional sends a message, a notification dot will appear on the Chat button to make sure you don't miss it. Once you open the chat, the notification is cleared.
Note: Chat messages are only available during the active call. Once the call ends, all messages are deleted and are not accessible. If you need to keep any information from the chat, make sure to save it before the call ends.
